Isabela de Basilan

One photoblogger called this Rainbow Market of Basilan

Stilt houses and boats

Badjao kids on boat.
These kids are really good divers and earn a living diving for coins people throw to the water.

Port of Isabela City, Basilan

MV Stephanie, our usual transportation to and from Zamboanga.
It is by the the largest ferry we had been on traveling to Basilan.

Left going to Lamitan, Right going to Maluso.

The Cathedral of Sta, Isabel de Portugal, the center of Basilan's thriving Catholic community.

Jollibee Basilan at Valderosa St. near the Provincial Capitol.  It is the 500th Jollibee branch opened.
I believe this is the only Jollibee branch that has survived much hostility
having been bombed several times through the years.

  2. FYI, there are 2 Isawads in Basilan. One is Isawad Cabunbata, the other is Isawad Balamban. Both are accessible via multicab or tricycle. Isawad Cabunbata is about 5 km from the port area while Isawad Balamban is 10-12km. If you would be going as a group, multicabs can be rented along Roxas Ave. near the Sta. Cruz market to take you to Isawad Balamban. Multicabs are usually parked near the Office Supply store fronting the market. Tricycles can also be rented cheaper along the market than those at the port area.
